The Story Behind Aquatica’s True Ofuro

Aquatica brings the real flavor of Japanese bathing into the modern era with the True Ofuro Bathtub. The growing popularity of Japanese style decor and increasing demand for compact bathtubs for small, contemporary bathrooms inspired Aquatica’s international team to create their own modern adaptation of the Japanese soaker. Traditionally, the Ofuro is a deep soaking tub made of hinoki wood. Using proprietary stone composite, Aquatica created an ergonomically designed Japanese soaker, revolutionizing the traditional sit and soak experience, with optional spa features such as hydromassage and chromotherapy. Aquatica’s Japanese inspired designs are truly unique, and the company holds three patents in the United States.

Made For Seated Soaking - Even 6ft Plus Bathers

There is nothing else quite like our True Ofuro Duo. This unique, modern take on the traditional Japanese-style bathtub is made for seated soaking of two bathers. So the design incorporates two built-in seats and the depth of the tub has been extended to 27.75” (70.5 cm) to ensure full body immersion for even 6ft (180 cm) plus bathers. The Aquatica True Ofuro Step is a smart and stylish accessory for the True Ofuro Japanese Soaking Bathtub series. The special safety step is the best solution for accessibility, making it easier for bathers to enter and exit the deep tub. This is a simple and more fashionable alternative to installing steps or recessing the tub into the floor. Carefully crafted from high-quality wood, the True Ofuro step is available to buy in either American Walnut or Teak. The step is recommended for older people or individuals shorter than 5’ ½ ”.

This energy-saving insulation system creates an air chamber to prevent heat loss and maximizes energy efficiency. The Aquatica Bathtub Nordic Insulation System works perfectly with the Aquatica Dual Wall solid surface superstructure. It creates the best insulated, sound-proof and monolithic solid stone interior. Nordic Insulation removes the option for mounting a deck mounted faucet.

We had never made an online purchase for a bathtub, but we were very attracted to the look of the True Ofuro and the fact that the tub had double built-in seating and a heating system which keeps the water warm indefinitely, helped convince us. We also consulted our contractor and the Aquatica sales team for a few weeks and decided to buy the tub. It has just been delivered right to our garage and we couldn’t be happier with our purchase, the tub is even better than we could have imagined and we’re very excited to start using it.
